Puppy Information
Rates
Our puppies at HOBBIT HILL JACK RUSSELL TERRIERS are priced at $1250. You can secure a puppy for a deposit of $200, which is not refundable but can be transferred to the next litter of your choice. This deposit lets us hold your puppy until it is 6 weeks old. At that time, we will ask that you pay in full for your puppy, including the shipping. That will give the checks time to clear as we prepare for your new babies' trip home.
We ship at eight weeks, depending on the individual. If we have a smaller pup that needs to grow a little more, it might be shipped in nine weeks. We cannot guarantee exactly how tall your puppy will mature or what ear set he or she will have. However, we will provide you with a picture pedigree that shows you the ancestors of your puppy (if possible) so you can see the type you should get.

Healthy and Well-Adjusted Puppies
Our puppies were born in our home and moved to our newly constructed nursery building at five to seven days. They are always provided with a climate-controlled environment, and we make sure that moms are fed the very best—Fromm puppy food.
All our puppies are handled and inspected daily. If one pup is not growing as rapidly as he/she should, we will supplement that puppy with a special formula (not a canned product). We watch our females very closely and feed them accordingly to maintain proper weight. Extra vitamins and supplements are given as needed.
Puppies are seen by the vet at two to three days to have a physical examination. At this time, we remove their dew claws and dock their tails. The mother is also examined. They are then dewormed at two, four, six, and eight weeks of age. They will not be released for their new home until they have received their eight-week deworming. Their first five-way vaccine is given at six weeks of age.
When puppies are ready to go to their new home, we will go to the extreme to make this transfer go as smoothly as possible. Although we no longer meet people with puppies, you may come here to the farm, or should your location not be close enough, we have reliable couriers who will pick up at our front door and deliver to your door. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, we have made the decision not to fly, as many flights can be canceled at a moment's notice.
Your puppies will come home micro-chipped and with a complete health record, which includes dates of deworming and vaccines. We strongly recommend that you have your new pet seen by your local veterinarian within 72 hours of arrival. Your veterinarian will then set you up with a schedule for the remaining worming and shots required to ensure your pup's continued health care.
Puppy Training
Jack Russell Terrier puppies have lots of energy. They do require exercise. Chew toys are also necessary. They play hard, and they sleep hard. We strongly recommend contacting your local pet store or vet to learn about puppy training classes. These will go a long way in helping you be in charge and have a well-mannered pet.
Getting a new puppy is a very exciting time. Whether replacing a longtime friend or becoming a first-time pet owner, puppies require attention and care. Watch for anything unusual in their behavior.
Puppies can eat almost anything, and sometimes, this can make them really sick. We have had a rock removed from a tummy, bigger than you would think could be swallowed. There were only subtle signs of anything wrong, but it could have been fatal had we not known the dog and his behavior. The surgery went fine, and he returned to himself in no time.
Kennel Facility
Work is still in progress on our new kennel, but our internal kennel has been built. It has windows and ceiling fans to help move air through the building, and we are installing a wood stove to keep the dogs warm and toasty on cold winter nights. We also have several outdoor runs where the dogs can get out and enjoy the sunshine.
Our puppy complex is a place for moms and babies to move to as soon as the puppies are four to five weeks old. There, they can roam, explore, and exercise. It also houses a washer/dryer and commercial-grade sink for bathing and grooming and has a climate-controlled environment to assure total comfort for our babies.
Extended exercise pens, complete with swimming pools and fun toys, are being built to give each individual a place to run, play, and spend cool afternoons having fun or laying under the big shade trees.

Jack Russell Terrier Coat Types
Jack Russell Terriers have three coat types: smooth, broken, and rough. We try our best to describe our puppies accurately. However, if we say a puppy has a rough coat, we cannot guarantee to what degree it will be rough.
The original Jack Russells were either smooth or rough. Broken is a term that has been thrown in to describe a dog with both smooth and rough hair. Rough coats can range from very light to very heavy, which some breeders are now calling full rough.
Unfortunately, we can't see into the future to determine how rough a puppy's coat will become. What we do know is the genetics involved, and we have a pretty good idea of what a dog will look like from parents and grandparents.
We have personally bought dogs that we knew should be rough but looked exactly like many of my smooth puppies at six to eight weeks. We knew they were not smooth coats by the time they were four to five months old. It takes time to develop the full coat, and many dogs will take as much as two years to get the entire coat grown out.
This is to say that coat type and length can never be guaranteed. However, we do strive to breed smooth coats that are very thick, rich, and full. A thin, wispy coat is undesirable.
Rest assured that we will never intentionally misrepresent any puppy we sell. We will go to the extreme to make our customers happy.

Shipping
COVID-19 has turned most of our world upside down. It has become difficult for us to ship puppies via airlines. But we have a very professional company that will bring your babies safely home. They have a Life 360 app and will give you a code so you can see where they are along the way and check on your baby anytime. They do a fantastic job.
Shipping prices are comparable to airline fees as airlines have raised their rates if you can find flights that work. Summer heat is always an issue for us. Rates vary in price.
Note: Effective October 15, 2021, we no longer offer local delivery. You are welcome to come to the farm to pick up your puppy, or we could hire a courier to bring the puppy to you for a fee. We also now have a flight nanny service and offer same-day delivery to your closest airport.
Disclaimer: We reserve the right to any puppy that we deem necessary to protect the continuation of our bloodlines. We also reserve the right to refuse to sell any puppy we feel would be neglected or endangered.
